You know, there's a question afloat. How are men supposed to be the leaders in the world if women are smarter? Well, there's some assumptions in that question that I think we ought to examine. There are two places where God has established a man as a leader. It's in the church and in the home, and He's called women to be in an active, honorable but supportive role.
What the Bible Does and Does Not Teach About Leadership
Nowhere does the Bible teach that in every single place in life and every institution of life, men must always lead and women must always follow. The Bible just doesn't teach that. There are places where women can exercise leadership. For example, it may be that God has uniquely gifted a woman as a doctor and she becomes a leader in her field. She's got unique gifts of God and she has done research that has brought her to a place of prominence. Or it may be that God has given a woman academic ability and she ends up as the president of a university. It's just not true that men are to lead everywhere. There [are] two definitive places clearly taught in scripture where God places leadership in the hands of men.
Now, let me say something even about that. Even in those places, any leader who is truly a leader leads out of humility. And so, what he does is he recognizes the gifts of others and he employs the gifts of others. One of the one of the greatest skills of a leader is surrounding himself with people that are smarter than him. That doesn't mean he's not leading. That's a way of leading.
So is it true that men are the leaders everywhere? No, two places where God has defined. Is it true that then men have to be smarter all the time? No, it isn't because smart leaders are humble leaders and recognize the gifts of others.
