God, in His love and generosity, has spoken truth to us in His word because every human being is an interpreter. This means I don't live life based on the facts of my experience, but based on my interpretation of the facts -- so hold that for a minute -- and because sin reduces all of us to fools, I need a place where there's a reliable body of truth and wisdom that I know will always be right, is forever reliable and trustworthy.
Wisdom Is Available to Me
Now, what that means now is I'm not just left to myself, either to my foolishness because wisdom is available to me and I'm not just left to try to figure things out on my own with my own little private interpretations, but now I have a rescuing and an interpretive tool for my everyday life.
And so, for me, I'm always asking the question, "What does the Bible say about this? What biblical information is there on this? What has God said about this issue?" And so, the Bible is comprehensive without being exhaustive, so it gives me all the information I need to live the way that God has designed for me to live without talking about everything.
If the Bible is exhaustive, you couldn't carry it to Sunday morning worship. You'd have to drive it in seven 18-wheelers. And so, God has spoken to me everything I need for life and guidelines for a God-honoring life in His Word so I'm not left to my foolishness and I'm not left to try to figure things out on my own. It's an awesome, beautiful gift to know truth is such a beautiful thing and to have a heart and mind at rest. God has spoken. I know this is true. Wow, how beautiful is that?
