Well, you know, if you look at the Lord's Prayer, it's really where the Lord's prayer begins. It doesn't begin with daily bread. It doesn't begin with my struggle with temptation. It doesn't begin with my struggle with other people and forgiveness.
It Begins With the Glory of God
It really begins with the glory of God and the glory of His kingdom and maybe, the unceasing prayer is "Your kingdom come, Your will be done right here, right now in my life as it is in heaven," where I start recognizing His awesome glory and start every day submitting my soul to His glory, and praying for rescue from my idolatrous craving for my own glory.
And then, if I do that, then it colors even the way that I think about all those other requests because in a real way, the second half is about submission. It's help me to be content with the bread that You provide for me. Help me to care about sin and temptation. Help me to be part of Your agenda of grace on earth. Those are not just "me-istic" prayers. That's not a word. I made it up, but they really are the result of a cry to live in light of the awe of God.
