I think one of the things that can help us as we seek to be part of God's redeeming mission in the lives of the people that around us is to reflect on God's common grace. There's an amazing thing that the Bible says, I love this word picture that God causes the rain to fall on the unjust and the just, the unrighteous and the righteous.
Rain on the Just and the Unjust
Now, you've got to understand that that is said to people who lived in a dry environment and rain was considered not a hassle, like what we consider it, but a blessing; that God blesses those who are close to Him and those who are far from Him.
God is a God of such awesome love, awesome kindness, awesome patience, awesome mercy that He lavishes His goodness on everybody. Everybody gets to see the beautiful sunset. Everybody gets to see the gorgeous flowers. Everybody gets to see the speckled animal.
Everybody gets to see the inexhaustible wings of a hummingbird. Everybody gets to taste the beautiful morsel of food. Everybody gets to feel the delicacy of a human kiss. Everybody gets to see a great painting. Everybody gets to see good music.
An Agenda of Grace Every Day
Why? Because God is and He's gloriously gracious. There is an agenda of grace everyday in our world that makes this world livable. God gives people the desire to keep traffic laws when in every car is a selfish human being who wants to get there first. That makes things livable. God ordained government and economics and farming and medicine and science, and all these things that bless the lives of everyone. And so, you need to recognize that God doesn't call you to be part of something that's not already happened.
His grace is already falling on that person. His grace is already blessing that person. And how about starting by helping that person recognize that there's so many things in their lives that they could have never planned, they could have never controlled, that they've been blessed with just because there's a God who's a God of glorious grace. Be part of His agenda of grace because His grace falls on everyone.
