Perhaps many of us are just too timid, too shy, too afraid, too willing to give way to fear of man, too conscious about what people will think about us. Maybe we've allowed the media view of Christianity with all of its sarcasm and its cynicism to drive us into hiding.
You Have the Only Worldview That Makes Sense
Think about this. If you're God's child, here's the first thing. You have a worldview that is the only explanation of what is that makes any sense whatsoever. It is the biblical worldview that answers all of the major questions of life with answers that are unassailable.
You have the one story that is a story of ultimate, personal, eternal hope, hope that one doesn't have to earn, hope that one doesn't have to deserve, hope that you don't have to achieve, hope that is a gift. You offer people the one thing that everybody wants.
Tim Keller says that the bottom line is that every human being just wants to be loved. And your story -- the story not just in the Bible -- but the story of your relationship with your Savior is a story of gorgeous love, love that cannot be broken, love that will not be exhausted, love that will never turn its back on you, love that won't give up and walk away. And you know that you've been called to be part of this move of love in this world that you've been placed in.
God Determines Where You Live
Think about this. The Bible says that God determines the exact place where you live and the exact length of your days. All the people that are around you everyday are there because of God's sovereign plan because God wants you to love His kingdom, His purposes, His truth, His honor, His glory, His redemption more than you love yourself.
Maybe it's time to stop being so timid. Maybe it's time to go out with the confidence of the gospel of Jesus Christ owning the treasure that's been entrusted to you. Maybe you need to say to yourself, "This morning, when I go out this door, I will not be afraid."
