It's really interesting to me, if you read through the Psalms, there are these "Psalms of Ascent" and they were designed to be sung as God's people were going up the hill of Zion to Jerusalem to worship. Now, why were those written? Because God knows that focusing on Him, focusing on His goodness, His grace, His presence is an important step to being ready to get everything that I need out of that gathered worship service.
Go to the Psalms
So go to the Psalms and prepare your heart. Read one of those great gospel passages like in Ephesians or Colossians. Remind yourself of the presence of God, His power, His grace that is unleashed on your benefit. Gather your family for prayer, specifically, that God would meet you in particular ways in that worship service. There are so many things you can do and it's pictured by us because God did that with His children. He set up a system where He would prepare them for being in worship in Jerusalem.
