I love a beautiful sunset. I love beautiful tasty tongue-exciting food. I love a gorgeous painting. I can stand in front of a great painting and just be enthralled. I love the variety of animals and all the different aspects of beauty and creation, but I've come to the point where I believe God's greatest gift to me is the truths of His word and it demonstrates to me how loving and caring and tender and generous God is.
The Love of God in the Gift of Wisdom
How could you look at the gift of this wisdom and not just be blown away by the love of God for His people? I mean, think of the biblical narrative when the people of Israel are redeemed out of captivity that they've been in for 400 years. The first thing God does is stops them at Mount Sinai and gives them His law. Why does He do that? Because He loves them. They don't have a clue how to live and He, out of love, drops down this incredible structure for their everyday living.
People read through Leviticus and say, "Oh, man, it's just so hard to get through." I read through Leviticus and I weep. I think, how could it be that God cares for me this much that He'd give me this much information so I would know how to live? It's a beautiful thing and so, this body of truth tells you how much God loves us, how tender-hearted He is, how filled with grace He is, how generous He is with us. How could you not love such a Person?
