Paul Tripp Health Update

November 11, 2016

Dear friends,

I am relieved and eager to share with you that my 3.5 hour surgery yesterday was a success. In fact, it turned out to be less complicated than the doctors originally anticipated! However, I have been in significant pain, so your continued prayers are appreciated.

I will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow and spend the remainder of the year recovering.

Thank you so much for your support. I tried to read as many of your emails and comments on social media as I could. It was a sweet blessing to have right before surgery.

God bless

Paul Tripp

Dear friends,

I write you today as a deeply grateful man. I am so thankful for your prayers, encouragement and support over the last two very difficult years. As I have said before, the last two years of physical suffering have not been lost years in any way, but by far the most productive years of my ministry life.

In fact, earlier this week, I sent off my 18th book to the editor. I am more excited abut the ministry that God has called me to, and that you’re a partner with, than I have ever been. We have events booked way into 2018 and are booking new events every day.

But I am once again in need of your prayer and support. On Thursday, November 10, I will have my most serious and difficult surgery yet. It will be followed by a 2 month recovery period.

This will be my sixth surgery in 18 months, but if successful, will end my need of further surgeries. So, I’m letting you know because I know you love me and I know that means I don’t face this alone.

Thank you again for your partnership, and know that I am resting in the ever-faithful and ever-sufficient care of Jesus.

I'll update you as I'm able following the surgery.

Well, I'm back home after ten unexpected and very painful days in the hospital. I was a very sick man and I didn't know it, but God knew.

It's humbling to be completely incapacitated, weak, fearful, and needy. It's humbling to cry out for help like you never have before. It's humbling to hope for little more than that the next few minutes will be more comfortable and less painful than the last few.

God uses these dark and painful moments to burst our delusions of independence and invincibility. God takes the darkest experiences and uses them to produce the brightest things in us. God employs these hard moments to remind us of how much we need him and the care of others in our lives.

I'm well on my way to a full physical recovery, and I'm thankful for the lessons of heart that God has brought to mind. I'm thankful for Luella, my wife, and Ethan, my son, who stood strong in that hospital room when I was very weak.

I'm thankful for excellent medical care. I'm thankful for the body of Christ around the world, praying for me and posting and tweeting comments of support. Most of all, I'm thankful for grace, even when it comes in the most uncomfortable of forms.

Thank you for your voices of concern and prayer. I will continue to keep you posted.

God bless,

Paul

Dear friends,

Paul and his family want to extend their thanks for all the prayer and words of support posted in the wake of the announcement of Paul's illness. It has been very encouraging for them.

We are thankful to announce that Paul's condition has improved dramatically. His infection is almost clear, and his kidneys will fully recover without the need for any further treatment. While he must remain in the hospital for a few more days for continued observation, Paul is well on his way to a full recovery.

Dear friends,

On Sunday afternoon, Paul Tripp was admitted to a hospital in Philadelphia with a bladder infection that has affected his kidneys. He has had a tough 24 hours but is receiving excellent care.

Paul's condition is improving, but he will need to remain in the hospital for a few days until he has fully recovered.

Please pray for Paul and his family. We will keep you informed with any developments, and we request that you refrain from contacting us regarding Paul's health during this difficult time.

On behalf of Paul,

Ben Fallon, Communications Coordinator for Paul Tripp
